TIMPRO PF-40

Timpro PF-40 Resin, when used in combination with PXF-40 Hardener, is formulated for the manufacture of weatherproof plywood and shutter boards used in the construction industry. This adhesive system forms a bond that meets SABS specifications, producing joints that are insoluble in boiling water, highly resistant to heat, and unaffected by fungi or wood-destroying insects.
The result is a durable, high-strength adhesive ideal for demanding outdoor and structural applications.

Key Features

  • Excellent water and heat resistance

  • Superior bonding strength — stronger than the wood itself

  • Suitable for tropical hardwoods and softwoods such as pine

  • Long shelf life and stable performance in warm climates

  • Easy to clean and handle

MIxing Instructions

Mix Timpro PF-40 Resin and PXF-40 Hardener in the following ratio by weight:

  • Resin (PF-40): 100 parts

  • Hardener (PXF-40): 40 parts

Add the hardener slowly into the resin while stirring to avoid lump formation. Mix until completely smooth and uniform.

The mixed adhesive should be used within 2–3 hours.

  • Unused mix can be incorporated into a fresh batch.

  • If the mixture becomes too thick, the hardener ratio can be reduced by up to 10%.

Veneer Preparation

Timpro PF-40 performs well on both tropical hardwoods and softwoods like pine.

  • Ensure veneers are smooth and well-cut.

  • Veneer temperature before glue application should not exceed 35°C.

  • Optimum veneer moisture content: 7–8%.

Pressing Guidelines

During pressing, it is essential to maintain controlled conditions to achieve optimal bonding performance. The loading time should be kept as short as possible—ideally under two minutes—to prevent pre-curing of the adhesive. Apply even and sufficient pressure across the entire surface of the board, ensuring uniform bonding strength throughout; the exact pressure required should be confirmed through practical trials. Additionally, maintain a consistent platen temperature across the press surface, as uniform heat distribution is critical for quality bonding. Timpro PF-40 performs effectively at temperatures as low as 110°C, with higher temperatures allowing for shorter pressing times.
